Congratulations to the winners of the myregion National Photographic Competition

The Hon. Simon Crean MP Minister for Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government; Minister of the Arts, awarded the seventeen prizes in the myregion National Photographic Competition in an event at the National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) on Tuesday 26 July 2011.

Minister Crean also opened a two week exhibition of the seventeen winning entries at the NFSA and announced the upcoming myregion website.

Thank you for sharing your images and stories of Australia’s regions with us.

Australian residents were invited to enter the national photographic competition to represent their region and community with pictures of Australian people, places, wildlife, landscapes and nature.

The myregion National Photographic Competition closed with over 2,200 entries.

Alongside a popularly voted People's Choice winner, category winners and a Student prize were judged by:
• Australian photographer Steve Parish OAM
• Australian actor Deborah Mailman
• ABC Art Nation host Fenella Kernebone
• Photo Review editor Don Norris.

The winning images are being exhibited at the National Film and Sound Archive until 9 August 2011.

Steve Parish Publishing and Photo Review will select winning images for their company's reproduction. Selected entrant images will be used by the Department to showcase Australia's regions on the website myregion.gov.au.

Contest Requirements

The Competition requirements are:
     a) Images must be a high resolution image, with a minimum dimension of 1600 pixels on the shortest edge, a          minimum file size of 2MB, maximum file size of 10Mb and a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. All photos must          be in jpg format.
     b) The person entering the Competition must be a resident of Australia and its external territories.
     c) Photographs must have been taken in Australia.
     d) Photographs must have been taken in the past 12 months.
     e) Entrants under 18 years of age must ask permission from a parent or guardian to enter.
     f) Photographs must be submitted through the Competition website.
     g) Photographs must adhere to the Competition theme ‘Australian images’. Categories include Nature, Wildlife,          Landscapes, People and Places as interpreted by the photographer.
